Overview
From students we have worked with who are now in Years 4, 5 and 6: the structure of the Ukrainian MBBS is genuinely logical and builds well. Years 1–2 are hard science — anatomy nearly breaks everyone. Years 3–4 get more clinically relevant. Years 5–6 are where it all comes together.
The 6-year MBBS in Ukraine is structured as: Years 1–2 (pre-clinical basic sciences), Years 3–4 (para-clinical sciences), Years 5–6 (clinical rotations and internship). Each year ends with state exams (Krok 1, 2, 3).
One honest warning: the anatomy workload in Year 1 is intense. Students who underestimate it struggle. Form a study group in the first week. The students who pass comfortably are the ones who studied every day, not in last-minute cramming sessions.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Can I complete MBBS faster than 6 years in Ukraine? +
No. The 6-year program is mandated by Ukrainian educational standards and WHO requirements. There are no shortcuts or accelerated options.
What are Krok exams? +
Krok (from Ukrainian for "step") are mandatory national step-examinations. Krok 1 (basic sciences, Year 3), Krok 2 (clinical sciences, Year 5), Krok 3 (internship, Year 6). All must be passed to graduate.
Is English used throughout all 6 years? +
Yes. English-medium programs are fully in English throughout all 6 years including clinical rotations. Basic medical Ukrainian helps with patient communication during clinical years.
When do clinical rotations begin? +
Clinical hospital rotations begin in Year 3 with internal medicine. From Year 5, students rotate through all major specialties: surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry and others.
